The silent workbench

A movement has been deliberately taken apart on the workbench. The tools are neatly stored, but their labels have been swapped.

Chapter 3 · 10 puzzles

The Library of Hours

The books bring together alphabets, ciphers and inventions. The master wrote in their margins so that his correspondence would never look like a will.

Chapter 4 · 10 puzzles

The Mechanical Bird

An automaton bird guards the letter drawer. It follows commands with stubborn logic. Repair its programme.

Chapter 5 · 10 puzzles

Beneath the dome

The observatory was used to set the town’s clocks. A record of the sky gives the exact time of the signature.

Chapter 6 · 10 puzzles

Measuring time

Every instrument has its own error. Recover the master’s corrections before comparing two apparently incompatible dates.

Chapter 7 · 10 puzzles

The silent bells

Four bells in the tower await their striking order. The master concealed the final way in within a mechanical score.

Chapter 8 · 10 puzzles

The Ninth Hour

The safe holds two deeds, receipts and a final letter. An inheritance cannot be settled by intuition: every conclusion needs evidence.
